Poetry: This Can’t Be The First Poem That’s Been Written About a Waiting Room

For anyone who’s ever… been in a waiting room.

This Can’t Be The First Poem That’s Been Written About a Waiting Room

The obvious metaphor
we’ve met before
of our impending doom.

The observation
of the faces
waiting in their private gloom.

The patient stillness
of the ill that
comes before unwelcome news.

The pain or comfort
sure to come from
conversations spoken soon.
