Poetry: After-school Interruption

I hope this will resonate with teachers out there, or anyone who has ever been a student. WE CARE.

After-school Interruption

The flickering torch of our cave-lit conversation.
Faltering,
We stoop like conspirators
Hunched over our own indignation,
Whispering,
Fading warmth and hissed oaths.

Until you come in,
With or without your homework,
And we turn to face you
With 100 watt beams.
